Amaryllis Spring Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon

2018 Amaryllis Spring Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon

Winemaker Notes

The 2018 Amaryllis Cabernet Sauvignon is 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, blended with 3% Petit Verdot and 2% Merlot. This wine shows an unusual richness given its location, 1000 feet above the valley floor. Dark, and dense color gives you an early impression of a serious wine. The wine coats the mouth with rich, dark berry fruit, and a sense of spice. There is a classic tannic backbone underlying, reminding you of its mountain source. Extended time in the cellar will reward you in 3 to 5 years.

Harvest Notes

The 2018 growing season began with a relatively dry spring and just a bit below normal rainfall over the winter. Budbreak was on time, leading to flowering in late May. The summer didn’t see too many heat spikes, but we were treated to cooler than normal mornings in September, leading to a harvest about 2 weeks later than the previous vintage. Both blocks of this vineyard were picked on the morning of September 28th.
