The 2021 Belle Reve Yates Family Vineyard Viognier is sourced from a single vineyard high on the top of Mount Veeder. The fruit from this vineyard shows plenty of stone fruits, with ripe apricot and Bartlett pears layered over some fresh flowers. Showing the weight on the midpalate, the ripe pear notes coat your mouth, with a clean, lively finish.
The 2021 growing season started early with bud break occurring about a week earlier than average. With a shortage of winter rains, we experienced another drought year, with rain totals about 60 percent of normal. Luckily, we didn’t see much in the way of heat spikes, so the fruit ripened at a consistent pace. With an early bud break, and consistent growing phase, the fruit reached full maturity and was picked over night, on September 13th. The Belle Reve Viognier comes from two blocks on Yates Family Vineyard near the top of Mount Veeder.
