The 2023 Belle Reve Yates Family Vineyard Viognier is sourced from a single vineyard located high atop Mount Veeder. Due to a slower maturing vintage, the fruit stayed on the vine longer than usual, adding more depth and weight to the wine. It presents vibrant flavors of ripe pear and apricot, with a medium body. The ripe pear notes envelop the palate, leading to a clean, lively finish.
The 2023 growing season was a sharp contrast to 2022. The typical spring and summer heat never fully developed, and while the vines remained healthy, they were slower to mature. As a result, we were about two weeks behind the usual schedule. However, the weather during harvest was ideal. With a late bud break and consistent growing conditions, the fruit reached full maturity and was harvested overnight on October 12th.
