Eminence Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon

2015 Eminence Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon

Winemaker Notes

The 2015 Eminence Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc.  This Cabernet from the Caldwell Vineyard in the Coombsville AVA, always shows a deep ruby/purple color, with an immense power just waiting to jump from the glass. Blackberries, cassis and a note of chocolate escape from the glass. A bit of patience on this wine, as a few years of aging will tame the tannic edge that drapes the mouth-coating fresh black fruits.

Reviews

92 Points - Jeb Dunnuck - A good value when it comes to Napa Valley Cabernet, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Eminence (90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petit Verdot, and 3% Cabernet Franc) sports a deep, inky ruby color as well as terrific notes of currants, incense, spice-box, and menthol. It's a ripe, hedonists, sexy wine that's already hard to resist.

Harvest Notes

Bud break for 2015 arrived a few weeks earlier than usual, and the growing season stayed ahead of normal throughout the entire season. An unusually cool period hit Napa Valley around flowering time, but Caldwell Vineyard, down in the cooler Coombsville AVA hadn't reached flowering when the cold snap occurred. Picture perfect growing season after the cool start to June, led to a long maturation process in the vineyard. This showed in the quality of the fruit that was picked early on the morning of October 1st.
