Eminence Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon

2016 Eminence Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon

2016 Eminence Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Winemaker Notes

The 2016 Eminence Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot.  This Cabernet from the Caldwell Vineyard in the Coombsville AVA, always shows a deep ruby/purple color, with an immense power just waiting to jump from the glass. Blackberries, cassis and a note of chocolate escape from the glass. A bit of patience on this wine, as a few years of aging will tame the tannic edge that drapes the mouth-coating fresh black fruits.

Harvest Notes

Heading into the fourth year of a prolonged drought, we had a warm, dry winter, which led to an early bud break in 2016. The growing season stayed ahead of normal through the entire season with no measurable rainfall until mid-October, which slowed things down. This allowed the fruit to have a few weeks longer and it showed in the quality of the fruit that was picked early on the morning of October 13th.
