The 2017 Eminence Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petit Verdot, and 5% Merlot. This Cabernet is primarily sourced from Stagecoach Vineyard, showing a deep ruby/purple color, with an immense power just waiting to jump from the glass. Blackberries, cassis and a note of chocolate escape from the glass. A bit of patience on this wine, as a few years of aging will tame the tannic edge that drapes the mouth-coating fresh black fruits.
The winter of 2016-2017 finally showed some relief from the four straight years of drought seen in California. With a wetter than normal winter, the growing season started closer to normal, with flowering occurring late early June. 2017 saw ravaging wildfires in mid-October, that destroyed land and structures in both Napa and Sonoma. The normal vineyard source for this wine was damaged in the fires, so fruit from Stagecoach Vineyard was used in crafting this vintage, which was picked early on the morning of October 4th.
