2016 Jetrois Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon

Winemaker Notes

The 2016 Jetrois Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from a single vineyard in the heart of the Rutherford AVA. It is a blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc. This wine is dark ruby in color with showing notes of black cherry and cedar on the nose. The mid-palate is bolstered with the dark black cherry notes of the Merlot, with a layer of tannins supplied by the mountain Cabernet Franc. Still showing long on the finish, this wine provides both immediate and long-term enjoyment.

Harvest Notes

Heading into the fourth year of a prolonged drought, we had a warm, dry winter, which led to an early bud break in 2016. The growing season stayed ahead of normal through the entire season with no measurable rainfall until mid October, which slowed things down. This allowed the fruit to have a few weeks longer and it showed in the quality of the fruit that was picked early on the morning of October 13th.
